“NO I will not put that on,” I howled at the guard.

“You have to...” replied the guard.

“But I don’t want to put it on,” I yelled

“Then you well have to go to prison for 84 days,” he exclaimed to me. “You will also spend most of your time in solitary confinement with only bread and water to eat and drink.”

As I sat in the old, dark cell by myself, I was getting tired and dizzy. I was locked away from sunlight and trapped in the hands of darkness. I was losing more of my health by the minute. I was thinking to myself that I could be dying. I was so hungry, I felt like I could eat anything I could see. My stomach was as loud as a tiger’s roar. I was going to let go, till I thought what would happen.

“If you give up that would mean you would surrender and throw away everything you believe in!” I said to myself.

I was getting so sick and tired of being in this place I didn't care what they would do to me, all I cared about was that the army would not take my freedom.  As I was staring into space and daydreaming about my family I hoped they were alright and that nothing bad would happen to them. I was so worried one of my brothers would be forced to participate in  war. I was thinking of all the bad stuff that could happen to them. Time was going by so slow in there. I was so relieved that I had only 42 day left. As I went to sleep that night I felt frightened. The next day I was shaking like I had stage fright which would never go away. I was so hot, I felt like I was on fire I needed to cool down. After 1 more week went by I was thin like a stick. I barely had any fat on me. I was drawing on the wall so I could know how many days I had left. Once I looked at the roof in the middle of the night it felt like time stopped right then. It was a cold  winter day. I knew that if I hadn’t refused to fight in the war I would not need to be here but I would have to kill people.

Thank you letter to Damon at the Mindlab

Dear Damon:

Thank you for letting my class from Christ the King School come to the Mindlab on 7th June Tuesday. It was an amazing time for me. My favourite part was playing with the robots.
I would love to come back to the Mindlab so I could learn more about 3D printers and more.

Oscar Romero report

Oscar Romero

Oscar Romero was a kind hearted man. He was born on August 15th 1917 in Ciudad, El Salvador. He was a person who wanted to help the poor. Oscar Romero spoke up for the rights of the poor people because they were voiceless. His passion for the poor was formed when his close friend Rutilio Grande was murdered by assassination because the government wanted him to stop speaking on behalf of the poor.

After Oscar Romero changed he felt that it was a time to change how the poor and tortured people of El Salvador where being treated. He started talking on the radio station and spreading the Christian message to all of El Salvador. The Government was angry at Oscar because they did not want him to spread the Christian message. They thought that it might make the soldiers leave the army and stop doing the cruel things on behalf of the government.

Oscar Romero died on 24th of March 1980 at San Salvador. He died at a church  that was called the Divine Providence church. He died because the government sent an assassin to kill him to stop him spreading the message for the poor.

As I am sitting here washing my face I am tasting the sparkling blue water in my mouth. As I am hearing the water clashing together it is like it is telling me something. Then I washed all the mud off my face and so now I could see and it was great . When I saw the sky and pool of water I felt blessed.

The Treaty of Waitangi

When the Treaty of Waitangi was written by the British they wanted the Maori to sign so the European could have power over them in many ways. Most of the Maori did not like this idea of the British. But there was one Maori who signed it because he knew that everyone would sign the Treaty. His name was Hone Heke.  After the Treaty was signed the British people broke their agreement with the Maori.  When the settlers came they did not want half of New Zealand they wanted all of New Zealand. A few years later the British and the Maori had the land wars because the settlers and the Crown tried to take the land by force. The British said to the Maori that if they surrendered and obeyed the Queen’s law that they would stop the wars but they just wanted power over the Maori. In the early 19th century all of the South Island and ⅕ of the North Island had been taken by the British.

The settles committed a group sin against the Maori. They sinned by breaking the Treaty of Waitangi. The first example is that the British Crown killed some of the Maori Chiefs.  Another reason how the British committed group sin was that they controlled the early government which meant that the Maori could not have a say. One more reason on how the British committed group sin was that they had changed the law so they could take land more easily.

The Christian people can restore tika and pono by giving the Maori back their land. Another way is that we can try to learn about the Maori culture.
