Last Friday we had a school trip. We went to Mary Mackillop Center for the 60 Diamond Jubilee. When we got there Father Peter is getting ready for the mass. As I sat down, one old sister went in front of the altar. She was talking about the time when the school started. She was the first one to teach at Christ the King School. She told us about how far she live away from school. She said a car had to pick her up. When times the car would not come and get her so she had to walk to school and the children will be waiting for her. Sometimes she had to take the bus, she had to go every morning to school.

And next we started the mass with the sign of the cross and then Bronson did the introduction of the mass. We prayed the prayer of the faithful and some songs. The middle part of the mass we ate the holy bread and the wine. Lastly, the whole school blessed  the sister, we raised our hands and sung them a song.

Peace

Peace

What is peace? Peace is no war.

What colour is the symbol of peace?
It’s the same colour of the sand white and pure.

What peace looks like? peace looks like working together in a team.

What peace sounds like? peace sounds like no one is bullying others.

What peace feels like? peace feels like people laughing together and enjoying each other.

A statement?
I think that we need to have peace because it will stop war and fights.

Morning Time

Morning Time
My mum was screaming.
Time to get up for school.
But its cold.
My bones freezes !
I can hear the roosters,
They are telling me to get up too.
Mum I’m trapped.
I’m in bad dream?
Dad help me I’m stuck.
No more nonsense, mum said.
I will take no more of it.
Dad left me to have a wash.
And change to get to school

Now I feel awesome and cool!!

20 fingers on one hand

In Tonga a boy named Andy had enormous clump of bananas. They need lots of rain, warm temperature and sunshine to grow. They grow from small suckers from the main plant.

They got no woody trunks but they grow i n clumps, they grow quickly. In two weeks new leaves sprout and they are  bright green shiny long leaves.

It has a bell shaped flower bud. It has waxy leaves called bracts and they have a purple and pink flowers. In a few weeks they turn into tiny bananas hands.

The brats are called fingers. The branch will stretch and turn upwards. The bananas will turn dark green in to light green, and start to ripen. When they are ripening they are ready to pick. Do you know why? Because of ants, they will eat it and bats and rats fight for it too.

Take it off of the tree and put it in a cool shady place to hang. The green banana taste furry and starchy, over ripe banana taste mushy and the golden one taste delicious.

Insulation

What is Insulation?
Why is there a need to insulation?
Netx to proper air sealing, insulation is arguably the most important feature that contributes to your comfort and your home’s overall energy efficiency. Without proper insulation, your home needs larger, more expensive heating and cooling devices to keep you comfortable and those devices need to work harder, consuming more electricity, gas, or oil and costing you money.

Consider this. On a cold winter night, would you rather have a thick, puffy down-filled blanket or a single thin cotton sheet on your bed to keep you warm? Think of insulation as the blanket for your home. By:Maira

It’s early in the morning. What a lovely day to be at the beach. The girl is already at the beach sitting on the diving board. She looks thrilled. I wonder if it her first time going diving. She looks like she is ready to jump but she is waiting for the right time to jump. I think she will jump because at first she looked thrilled but now she looks screwed. But now she can do it.

Mighty Muscles

Mighty Muscles
Do you know that we have up to six hundred muscles in our body. Our biggest muscle is our bottom and it’s called the gluteus maximus. Our smallest muscles is deep inside your ear. It’s called the stapedius.
  How to build your muscles

To build our muscles you need to eat Eggs, Meat, Fish and Cheese for the protein and also eat nuts and soya beans.  When you exercise you are giving your muscles work. When you workout it keeps your body healthy and fit.

popcorn

Popcorn
One day my aunt bought popcorn and I opened the packet and it all spilled on the floor.  When I was picking it up I thought of how they make popcorn.

In my class, we researched on the computer on how to make popcorn. First we got the biggest seed. Then we put it in a wet paper towel in a plastic bag with the end of the left side open. Then we waited for a week. Then a little sprout from the grain came out. Very carefully we took it out and poked a little hole into a pot of soil. We  checked the pots every day and sprinkled them with water. After another ten days or so, we noticed leafy coming up through the soil. We transplanted the seedlings to the sunny spot of the garden. We watered it and watched it to grow. The stalks grow straight and tall. Once a week we measured them with tape measure. We work out the growth, how fast it grows - about 1-2 centimetres each day.

Some more facts we found out -how the seeds pollinates. First in the tassel/ the male goes down to the silk. The silk catches the seed and pollinates. Then in the ear, the female meet with the male and mixes. This make kernels then they  fertilise. This is an interesting topic to learn about.
